Pay It Forward

As we enter December, closing in on the final chapter of 2024, the world just keeps getting crazier, more expensive, and more angry. On the grand global scale, war is looming. On a national scale, war is looming. On a neighborhood scale, war is already in progress.

We have never been so divided in my lifetime. I imagine it might have felt something like this during the Revolutionary War and the Civil War but I thought we had matured since then.

I guess not.

But my blog is not political, I reserve my FB page for that. I am just observing the present condition of man, and the disappointment that throughout the entire span of centuries we've been on this earth, we remain the most violent species. We destroy each other, all other species, and the entire planet with little regard for even our own futures.

I, myself, am not beyond violence under the right conditions. But those circumstances would be based on survival, not greed for personal gain. I truly believe that greed is the root of all evil. And greed is oozing out of every nook and cranny these days.

Where is the love, sharing, caring, compassion, encouragement, charity? Where is the hope? Does anyone pay attention to the teachings of Christ anymore? The very people who claim to be evangelical Christians are the furthest from Christ in their actions. It's crushing to see Christian Nationalism, which is not really Christian at all, completely eclipse Christ's intent for us. But greed is powerful and it is winning.

So what can we do? We can persevere. We can continue to live our lives as examples, lifting others up, not tearing them down. Giving others encouragement, direction, instruction, education, all tools for surviving and living fully through dark times. We can share joys and put our collective foot down against the tyranny others would impose on us.

My part in this? I share my musings. I share information, learning experiences, cautions, faith, and encouragement in sustainability to weather the storm. I offer hope in knowing there are many of us who believe in good, in community, in equality, and that the world will be a better place when we concentrate on the log in our own eye instead of the splinter in someone else's. And I try to offer positivity and a bit of humor.

And so, I am grateful for you who read my blog, watch my youtube videos, and share things you learn with your friends. Though it appears otherwise, we hold the power. Hate is strong but love is stronger.

Remember the old “Pay it Forward “ movement? Let's revive that right now. At least once a day, do something good for someone with no expectation of anything in return. When you experience the joy, do it again. Just tell each person to pay it forward. It will go viral, physically.

And that is good. That is love.
